Connected Accounts and Aliases in Hotmail

There are many important features of Hotmail you should be aware about, and the ones such are the features of aliases and connected accounts. Simply put, the first feature allows you to have two or more Hotmail accounts and a phone number, all of which you can use for logging in to one account. At the same time, the feature of Hotmail connected accounts allows you to connect your Outlook email to other email accounts (including Gmail), and view all the letters from both accounts in one inbox. Follow the instructions below in order to take advantage of these features.

Here, you are able to switch on Hotmail connected accounts and aliases features

Step 1. Use your PC or laptop for opening the browser and going to the following website: http://msn.com/.

Step 2. You will see a set of programs at the top of the page, and there you should click on “Outlook.com.”

Step 3. Once you are viewing the main page of Hotmail, use its sign in form for logging in to the account.

Step 4. After you got to see the main page of your account, find the button of “Settings” in the right-upper corner. Click on it.

Step 5. You will see a newly opened menu, where you should click on the “Options” button.

Step 6. In the menu that you will see on the left side of the page, go to Shortcuts. There, choose the last option: “Connect to your other email accounts.”

Step 7. On this page, you are able to add more email accounts and view their inbox from your Outlook. So, in order to take advantage of the Hotmail connected accounts feature, click on “Gmail” or “Other email accounts” respectively.

Step 8. In the next two fields, enter the email address and the password of it respectively. Also, you should choose whether to import the letters from that email into existing folders or into newly created ones. If you choose the latter option, place a tick near “Create a new folder for…” Then, click on the “OK” button.

Step 9. After that, click on “OK” again. Now, the accounts are connected, yet it will take a pretty decent share of time until all the letters are transferred into the inbox of your Hotmail account – especially if you have a lot of them.

Step 10. Then, you will see the “Email aliases” section at the bottom of the page. “Click on “Manage or choose a primary alias.”

Step 11. Since that page is sensitive, you will be asked to enter your password again. Do so and click on “Continue.”
